Converting A Crystal Reports Order Report to the New RD Version
RemoteDesk version 3.0 has a number of changes made to its database.
With this change it is also necessary to update any custom Order, Quote or
Invoice printing
forms to recognize the new database.
Remote sites must also be updated with the
new reports before printing any of the company forms in version 3.0.
With Crystal Reports running on your PC, load each of your custom reports and
follow these steps to update them to the new RD database.
- Open the report such as RDORDER.RPT in CRW.
- Click on the "Database" drop down menu and select "Set Location";
- On the form, click on "Set Location" button and find your new installation of
RemoteDesk and its database. The data is installed under the RemoteDesk
folder such as \remotedesk\database . The files should show up.
- Set ALL tables to that location when prompted by the program.
- Click on "Database" drop down menu again and choose "Verify Database".
Choose YES to verify files in the report.
- If any require updating, respond YES. Once the process is done return to the
main form.
- Click on "Files" and "Save". The report is now up-to-date and can be sent to all
of your remote sites and to the Administrator. The reports are saved under the
\reports folder. (Note : if you are emailing the updated reports to your Remote
Sites, contact BRAVO for a special Receive program that will automatically
update the remote report folder when yours are sent.)
- Repeat these steps for all of your custom CRW reports.
Updating Remote Sites with New Reports
- Once the RemoteDesk order, quote and invoice forms have been updated at the
Head Office, you can SEND the new forms to all remotes.
- When Sending the next
update to the remote office, you can also attach the new reports to the transmission
as “External Data”.
- At the bottom of the Send form, is a box that contain the *.RPT
files that have been updated and you want to send to all of the remote sites. These
*.RPT files will be saved to the RemoteDesk \Reports folder on the receiving end
updating the existing reports. Your remote sites will then have new data and new
reports that they can begin running with.
